National Prayer: May 6th

Join millions, uniting in prayer at thousands of events from coast to coast. The theme for this coming year is “Prayer for Such a Time as This” and is based on the verse from Nahum 1:7 which states: “The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.”

For Such a Time as This: May 6, 2010

National Day of Prayer – First Coast

As most of you know, a federal judge in Wisconsin ruled National Day of Prayer unconstitutional Thursday, April 15, 2010, saying the day amounts to a call for religious action. The Freedom From Religion Foundation, a group of atheists and agnostics, filed a lawsuit against the federal government in 2008 arguing the day violated the separation of church and state.

But we know that no law has ever been able to prevent true prayer!  We are more determined than ever to pray and to cry out to God for His mercy on our nation.

National Day of Prayer will be holding our corporate gathering on Thursday May 6th from 6:00-9:00 pm at Hemming Plaza (downtown). But because our heart’s desire is not to host an event but to mobilize our city to pray, we are encouraging every member of the Body of Christ to either join us or to gather to pray in homes, businesses or churches.  We want the aroma of prayer to arise from every part of Jacksonville particularly on this day.
